Based in Westminster Colorado, this incredible team is looking for a skilled and experienced Astrodynamics and Satellite Navigation Engineer is skilled and supports a growing list of projects and missions; a person who has a passion for space exploration, development, and settlement. This person will play an integral role in contributing to our fast-paced business to support customers, and innovative solutions in mission planning, operations, and technology development.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced professional able to support development efforts and conduct detailed analyses. Responsibilities include interfacing with customers, coordinating with team members, performing analyses, communicating results, and may act as a technical lead for some aspects of a project, . Astrodynamics analyses that will be supported and/or directed include single spacecraft and constellations in Earth orbit, transfers to lunar orbit and/or the surface, as well as deep space missions to Mars and elsewhere. This person should be prepared to support spaceflight operations, new technology conceptualization, business development efforts, and general contributions to company technical and strategic planning. Previous experience developing mission design, trajectory optimization, and/or astrodynamics software, evaluating new mathematical formulations, and a demonstrated ability to improve on legacy approaches would be an advantage.


The ideal candidate for this role will have a detailed fundamental understanding of astrodynamics, mission design, and the state-of-the-art in terms of tools and approaches. This person will work with a highly dynamic and fast-paced team, which values passion and hard work. This position will support multiple projects and programs and will include a high degree of diversity in the tasks required. This position is based out of our primary engineering office in Westminster, Colorado.

 

Responsibilities:
This position will support and coordinate astrodynamics functions of the company

  • Orbit design and trajectory optimization analyses for flight missions in development and proposed
    • Earth orbit - constellations and others
    • Lunar transfers (traditional and low energy) and landing
    • Deep space missions to Venus, Mars, and elsewhere
  • Maneuver design and operations support
  • Lead development activities for new technologies
  • New technologies and business efforts
  • General contribution to company technical and strategic planning and execution
  • Support of internal development and assessment of state-of-the-art
  • Interface with government and commercial customers

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • B.S./M.S./PhD in Aerospace Engineering with a technical emphasis in orbital mechanics, mission design, estimation theory, navigation filter design and implementation, constellation design, and navigation systems architectures.
  • 3 - 6 years' experience in actual mission implementation of flight and ground systems with an emphasis on deep space systems preferred.
  • Experience with orbit analysis tools, i.e., GMAT, OREKIT, STK, Freeflyer, Monte, Copernicus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently when necessary
  • Ability to work in an environment with rapidly evolving system requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with common computer development languages, i.e., C++, Java, Python
  • Experience in flight and ground software development with a focus on navigation systems, navigation sensor requirements and designs, and ground system support requirements.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Ability to work in the Westminster, CO office 3-5 days/week.
  • Applicants must be a US Person (citizen or Green Card Holder/permanent resident, or protected individual
  • Must be eligible to obtain a US Security Clearance

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary Range – $75,000 - $135,000 based on role, employee experience, and location*
  • Signing bonus
